Mosquito

Michigan has about 60 species of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes have four life stages: Egg, Larva, Pupa, and Adult. The first three stages occur in water. It is true that only  female mosquitoes bite  and  males feed on nectar from plants. Mosquitoes find hosts by sight; they detect movement by infrared radiation emitted by warm bodies and  by chemical signals emitted from their hosts. Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide and lactic acid. One interesting fact is that a full moon can increase mosquito activity by 500%.
